Maintenance Engineer

What does your factory smell like?

Stay with me…

If it doesn’t have the intoxicating aroma of food and some of the best flavours in the world, then maybe you’re in the wrong job. Imagine that smell every day.

Your job is hard. Time is of the essence here, you’ll be (for lack of a better phrase) ‘on it’, attending breakdowns, diagnosing faults and applying fixes to keep the operation running smoothly. No operation means no wonderful aromas. It also means no production, so it’s pretty important that you’re quick off the mark.

Your experience in manufacturing (ideally FMCG food) means you’ll be used to this; you’re not fazed by a deadline and you know the pressure which can ride on you at any given time. It’s not going to come as a surprise, and you’ll be able to handle it well.

This opportunity is the classic multiskilled engineering role, with a slight bias towards electrical. There is a mix of reactive and planned maintenance and CI projects with the expectation to take ownership of one’s workload.

You’ll need to have a strong engineering background covering both electrical and mechanical disciplines. An Engineering Maintenance NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, or higher (e.g Electrical M1 and M2 qualification) is required to be considered for this position.

‘You need to be a team player’ is a phrase that gets banded around all too easily, but it is very prevalent here.

You will have to be able to dovetail seamlessly with your peers. Some people work better on their own, but you’ll be part of a bigger picture here so if your work ethic is ‘me, myself and I’ this won’t be a good fit.

Personal development here is key, you’ll have a plan set out so you can continuously improve to become the best at what you do. Development is important to these guys, with on-site investment in new technology and more importantly their people. It’ll need to be important to you, too.

You’ll get a salary of between £47,000 and £57,000 dependent on skills and experience, which is inclusive of a shift premium. Overtime is paid at £30 per hour. There are plenty of other perks and benefits.

The role has a few different shift patterns Tuesday to Friday Days, Monday to Thursday Nights or Saturday to Monday Days dependent on availability.

If you are interested or want to know more, call me, send me a message, DM, carrier pigeon – whatever is easiest. We encourage anyone who feels they are suitable to apply, we love seeing diversity in our applicants. We use specialist technology to ensure there is no gender bias in our adverts.
