Innovation Lead / Software Development Manager - RPA Automation - £50-65k + benefits - Staffordshire

To lead in the development and application of innovative low code & RPA automation solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of key business processes of the internal core systems. Each innovation will be governed by a supporting business case such has the characteristics of positive ROI / business value.

Key responsibilities

To lead in the development of an innovation strategy & vision that tracks the business environment, the evolving target operating model and trends in new low code & automation technology; and defines strategy for the adoption of this technology.
To lead the capture of new opportunities, their conversion into compelling business cases and their prioritisation into a T shirt sized backlog of work for the team; adopting a product owner paradigm.
To manage the end to end development lifecycle for low code & automation making use of best practice agile and Devops approaches.
To ‘hands on’ build the products utilising the chosen technologies and preferred development approaches – to manage and to do.
Lead on the acquisition and maturation of in house low code & automation skills, and develop partnerships with key third parties to ensure an effective and efficient supply chain to deal with peaks in demand.
To work within the business functions and change teams to effectively deploy the solutions into the mainstream business and accrue the anticipated return on investment.
To transition the products into the wider operational support model ensuring the desired DevOps approaches are properly reconciled within an ITIL framework.
Proactively make use of monitoring tools to assure the performance & stability of solutions. Provide upwards communication of solution performance, incidents and problems
Manage the validation and prioritisation of change requests and defects into the delivery backlog and align with release cycles of systems of record where integration demands it.
Manage the procurement and optimisation of low code and automation licensing such that licensing costs are minimised through the design of solutions and their subsequent consumption.
Lead a highly motivated, capable and integrated team that lives and breathes client values. Creating a working environment that stimulates, rewards and sets clear expectations of performance and results. Manages succession, talent and development of team members to meet business needs.

Required Experience

3 to 5 years managing a small software development team/scrum utilising leading edge low code software tools and libraries to leverage rapid application development.
Experience of contracting and working with third party technology partners operating as an extended team.
Experience in managing an end to end delivery lifecycle from opportunity creation to transition into operational support
Proven appetite for the sponsorship of innovation and a commercial bias to thinking – just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
Experience of agile development approaches and exposure to DevOps thinking.
Experience of hands on development of low code and automation products, preferably utilising UI Path and PowerApps
Experience of utilising the Microsoft technology Ecosystem
Experience of the use of Microsoft automation, low code and integration products.

Experience of developing high level business cases at the opportunity, costs & benefits level
Experience of non Microsoft high capability low code and automation products such as Appian
Experience as a product owner accountable for driving business and technology innovation.
